The Irishman had just snapped his tibia during his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier when UFC commentator Rogan decided to cozy up next to him to conduct his usual post-fight interview.
Clearly in agony, McGregor was struggling to contain the pain as he sat down in the octagon with his back against the cage while still receiving treatment.
But, being the professional he is, he still went ahead with the chat as Rogan wedged closer and closer to him.
Most fans were absolutely loving the sight of Rogan getting up close and personal with McGregor, but one bloke in particular clearly wasn't amused.
McGregor's respected mixed martial arts coach John Kavanagh has come out and blasted the popular podcaster for going ahead with the interview and not giving the UFC megastar some breathing space.
"His foot is literally hanging down. It's a clean fracture of the fibula and tibia, it went straight through, the foot's hanging down," Kavanagh said.
"You can only imagine the rush of hormones and what's going on in your body, the pain, it was on fire. And then someone sits down and sticks a microphone in your face. 'How are you feeling about the end?'
"Come on. Come on! When has he ever not been graceful at the end? Let's get backstage, let's get a proper assessment from a doctor. Let's get an X-ray.
"So I was pretty miffed at the idea of sticking a microphone in his face at that point."
Kavanagh also admitted that an ankle injury McGregor sustained during his training camp could have contributed to the leg snap that gifted Poirier the trilogy bragging right.
"A little bit of that ankle injury had been aggravated during camp," Kavanagh said.
"We got a scan on it. Did that have a small part to play in weakening it? I don't know. We were (with a doctor) a couple weeks ago to get a scan on the ankle... There might've been something in there. It would seem unusual that a young, healthy, fit man could wrap his foot around an elbow and (break it) without there being something (wrong) there before. You can play those guessing games all day long."
McGregor has now undergone surgery and is expected to be out of action for at least several months.
As for Poirier, he's now in line to challenge Charles Oliviera for the lightweight title later this year.
