How Chelsea will capatalise on Champions League win and Thomas Tuchel's transfer window plans - Football.London

For only the second time in Chelsea's 116-year history, the club are champions of Europe.

The Blues clinched the biggest prize in European football on Saturday after a hugely impressive display from Thomas Tuchel's side resulted in a 1-0 victory over Manchester City in Porto. Now is the time to capitalise.

The first thing on the Chelsea agenda is a new contract for Tuchel. football.london understands the German coach will be offered fresh terms despite the Champions League victory triggering an automatic one-year extension in the deal he signed when he replaced Frank Lampard.

The club also have decisions to make over the futures of several players before then entering the transfer market in order to improve their squad.

There are two key areas Chelsea will look to strengthen this summer: centre forward and centre midfield. Players have been identified and will be targeted in the weeks ahead.

The Blues will also attempt to trim their first-team squad this summer and the loan army. It is going to be busy, as it always tends to be, in terms of incomings and outgoings at Stamford Bridge.
