4.6 quake 26 Dec 6:32 pm (GMT -5)

The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude 4.6 quake in Peru near Onconashari, Atalaya, Ucayali, only 15 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early evening on Saturday 26 December 2020 at 6:32 pm local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 4.9 earthquake.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Onconashari (pop. 140) located 22 km from the epicenter, and San Pedro (pop. 120) 34 km away.
Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Maldonadillo (pop. 930) located 75 km from the epicenter, and Pangoa (pop. 6,600) 98 km away.
