That's one gutted Guti! Real Madrid legend bizarrely spends the first THREE minutes of a Spanish TV show sitting in despair on camera after Manchester City's crushing Champions League semi-final victory
Real Madrid legend Guti was unable to hide his despair after his former club crashed out of the Champions League following their semi-final defeat by Manchester City.
Madrid, the holders of the hallowed jug-eared trophy until their knockout in the final four, were clinically dispatched by Pep Guardiola's side at the Etihad last night.
Bernardo Silva's first-half brace had left the visitors with a mountain to climb, before Manuel Akanji diverted home a set-piece and Julian Alvarez netted in stoppage time.
As a result, Carlo Ancelotti's heavyweights were subjected to a crushing 5-1 aggregate loss across both legs, despite their battling first leg draw at the Bernabeu.
And the emphatic manner of the setback saw Guti lay bare his frustration live on TV.
During the opening three minutes of enigmatic sports show 'El Chiringuito', Guti was filmed sitting on the panel in stony silence, his face etched with visible dismay.
Hilariously, the shot continued to change, flashing Guti across multiple angles while pictures of bedraggled-looking Madrid players appeared on the big screen.
While he gathered his thoughts, dramatic music also played in the background.
Eventually, the former midfielder, who represented Los Blancos at senior level for 15 seasons, embarked on a red-faced rant over Madrid's poor performance.
'Did Real Madrid play football at all? What kind of plan did the coach have?' he said.
'Real like this only showed that they urgently need reinforcements in the summer and immediately. This team is read and too old. Something will have to be done, some players will have to be thanked. No, I don't understand anything.
'What was the coach thinking? Was he waiting for Vinicius' miracle? What is the Plan B? Obviously there is none.
'Ancelotti and all the players were desperate. The only one who doesn't deserve criticism is [Thibaut] Courtois. Everyone else should clean up their heads.'
Previously, Guti hit out at City and singled out Jack Grealish for particular criticism.
Speaking on the same show after the first leg, he said: 'The coaches have changed roles, now the bold one is Ancelotti and the defensive one is Guardiola.
'Manchester City have less offensively. They used to have two full backs who came in like lightning from the back and now they don't. They put in Bernardo Silva, who is not a winger, and they lose a player there.
'City have Jack Grealish, who doesn't dribble past anyone. In the Premier League he might outsmart everyone, but I haven't seen him in the Champions League.'
After booking their spot in Istanbul, City will take on Inter Milan on June 10.
