As many as 32 teams have been formed to visit various areas of Chandigarh to cover almost 1/4th of the city’s population
To eradicate tuberculosis (TB), the Chandigarh health department has started a survey to trace presumptive TB cases in the city. Started on March 20, the survey will continue till April 21.
Dr Suman Singh, director, health and family welfare, UT, flagged off the teams for active case finding.
She said the survey will cover Sectors 24, 25, 30 and 49, Bapu Dham Colony in Sector 26, Burail, Kajheri, Mauli Jagran, Mauli Jagran Complex, Vikas Nagar, Ram Darbar, Dhanas and Maloya.
As many as 32 teams have been formed to visit these areas to cover almost 1/4th of the city’s population.
The teams will visit both urban and rural areas, and conduct a door-to-door survey to identify symptomatic persons for TB testing. This will help in early diagnosis of cases and break the chain of infection, added Dr Singh.
Dr Rajesh Kumar Rana, state TB officer, said the Central TB Division, New Delhi, had started this activity all over India.
