Good evening and welcome to live coverage of Thomas Tuchel's post-match press conference after Chelsea's 2-1 against Southampton at St Mary's.
The Blues went into the game without Reece James – who was ruled out due to illness – injured duo Trevoh Chalobah and N'Golo Kante, and the suspended Conor Gallagher. Yet the side Tuchel selected was strong, and he settled upon the same 4-2-2-2 system deployed against Leicester.
Chelsea started well and took the lead midway through the half when Mason Mount fed Raheem Sterling, and the England international remained patient with Southampton goalkeeper Gavin Bazuni. The goal should've been a springboard, a lead upon which to build. Instead, the Saints rallied.

The home side levelled the score when Romeo Lavia rifled home a shot from the area after Chelsea failed to clear a corner. Moments before the interval, they then went ahead as Adam Armstrong found space in the penalty area to fire beyond Edouard Mendy.
Tuchel threw on Mateo Kovacic at halftime. There was no improvement. He then turned to Ben Chilwell, Christian Pulisic and Armando Broja. Still, Chelsea remained lethargic and weren't able to put Southampton under major pressure. It meant the Saints saw out the game in relative comfort.
The defeat is a damaging one for Tuchel. Chelsea will be busy in the final 48 hours of the transfer window, but an addition isn't going to solve all the issues. We'll get the full post-match thoughts from Tuchel shortly. Live updates will appear below.
