The 18th day of the trial involving Johnny Depp and Amber Heard takes place this Wednesday, May 18, and it is expected that the trial is set to last for around six weeks in total, with this being the fifth week that court has been in session.
While Depp and a variety of witnesses have already contributed to the trial, the cross-examination of Heard by Depp's lawyers drew to a close yesterday (Tuesday, May 17) after she had been giving evidence for three and a half days. Some witnesses are still appearing to offer their version of events.
The reason behind the trial is that Depp is suing Heard, his ex-wife for a sum of 50 million dollars for a domestic abuse column she wrote in the Washington Post in 2018. That was followed by Heard declaring that she was going to countersue to the tune of 100 million dollars.
During today's live blog, we will look back at some of the key moments from Tuesday's events at the trial, as well as what could lie ahead this Wednesday.
The trial is taking place in Fairfax, Virginia, and it is set to resume for Day 18 at 9am local time, which is 2pm in England.
