Car tax: The best ULEZ and Clean Air Zone exempt cars in 2021 – full list - Express

Class A covers buses, coaches and taxis, Class B affects buses, coaches, taxis, private hire vehicles and heavy goods vehicles, while Class C goes a step further bringing buses, coaches, taxis, private hire vehicles, heavy goods vehicles, vans and minibuses under its remit.

Class D is the toughest of the lot covering buses, coaches, taxis, private hire vehicles, heavy goods vehicles, vans, minibuses and cars, plus the local authority has the option to include motorcycles.

Cities like Oxford, Bradford, Bristol, Manchester and Newcastle will be implementing a CAZ in the next few months or at the start of the new year.

According to the Transport for London website: “Petrol cars that meet the ULEZ standards are generally those first registered with the DVLA after 2005, although cars that meet the standards have been available since 2001.
