The LA Lakers' elimination from the first round of the playoffs was confirmed after a resounding defeat to a Devin Booker-inspired Phoenix Suns.
The 100-113 loss sealed the 4-2 victory for the Suns, with Booker scoring 47 points, as the Lakers were eliminated at the first round of the playoffs for the first time in their history.
It capped off a miserable season for the Lakers, as the highs of last season's NBA Championship victory have been followed by a season plagued by injuries to key players.
From the first minute, the result looked a foregone conclusion as the Suns raced into a 36-14 lead, before extending their lead to 29 points at 48-19.
Although the Lakers managed to reduce the deficit to 10 points at 94-84, it was not enough to turn the match around.
For LeBron James, despite his 29 points, he was unable to lead his side to victory, as he lost three consecutive matches in the first round of the playoffs, having never lost two in a row before.
The Phoenix Suns will now face the Denver Nuggets in the semi-final of the Western Conference, as they look to close in on the NBA Championship.
