ATLANTA — Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo injured his left leg and limped off the court with the help of his brother and teammate Thanasis Antetokounmpo after falling to the court trying to defend a Clint Capela shot with 7:14 left in the third quarter Tuesday night during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals.

Antetokounmpo tangled with Capela and landed awkwardly. He took some steps without help as he headed to the locker room. Bucks general manager Jon Horst followed Antetokounmpo into the locker room.

The Bucks announced at the conclusion of the third quarter that Antetokounmpo had a left knee hyperextension and would not return. Without the two-time MVP in the fourth, the Bucks had little chance for a comeback, and the Hawks cruised to a 110-88 win that tied the series at 2-2.

Injuries continue to play an outsized role in the NBA playoffs.

Playing without injured guard Trae Young, the Atlanta Hawks were in command of the game for three quarters. Lou Williams replaced Young in the starting lineup and had 19 points through three quarters.

With medical and training staff examining Antetokounmpo in the locker room, the Hawks went on a 10-2 run and built a 74-54 lead with 4:16 left in the third quarter.
