Donovan Mitchell surpasses Karl Malone to move Utah Jazz closer to the second round - MARCA.com

Actualizado

Donovan Mitchell is on his way to writing his name in Utah Jazz folklore if he continues the form he showed against the Memphis Grizzlies. The shooting guard was once again the main man for the Salt Lake City team as they beat the Grizzlies 120-113, making it 3-1 in the first round of the playoffs.

'Spider' Mitchell was once again the game's leading scorer, scoring 30 points for Quin Snyder's team. Mitchell signed off an impressive 10th playoff game where he has successfully scored 30 or more points.

Mitchell averages 27.4 points per game in the playoffs, which has seen him become the best Utah Jazz player in history and among the top four for players that have played at least 25 games, only behind Anthony Davis (28.1), LeBron James (28.7) and Kevin Durant (29.2).

The shooting guard was not alone when it came to high scorers in this match, with Jordan Clarkson scoring 24 and Bojan Bogdanovic scoring a further 13 points.

Rudy Gobert also managed to score 13 of his 17 points in the third quarter, while Mike Conley made it five Utah Jazz players to exceed 10 points.

The Grizzlies also had players that stood up to the challenge despite falling to defeat. Ja Morant, who scored 23 points and made 12 assists, is still currently on an average of 33.7 points in this series. Dillon Brooks and Jaren Jackson each scored 21 points, while De'Anthony Melton scored 15 points all in the fourth quarter.
