India's National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported a magnitude 4.2 quake in Myanmar (Burma) near Shwebo, Shwebo District, Sagaing Region, only 11 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Friday 7 May 2021 at 7:28 am local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Mawlaik (pop. 44,500) located 86 km from the epicenter, and Shwebo (pop. 88,900) 94 km away.
