Cattaraugus County Confirms Two New COVID-19 Cases Thursday - TAPinto.net

The Cattaraugus County Health Department reported two new cases of COVID-19 Thursday.

Overall, 5,688 residents have tested positive for the virus since March 2020; 44 are active cases; 13 are hospitalized; 5,540 have recovered, and 104 have died. The county’s seven-day positivity rate was 1.1% on Thursday, and 39.3% of county residents have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. The count for quarantined contacts is 223.

One of the residents who tested positive was male, and one was female. Since the county began tracking COVID-19 cases last March, more females than males have tested positive for coronavirus in the county. The numbers are 3,039, 53.4%, for females and 2,649, 46.6%, for males.

Both persons who tested positive Thursday reported they had no known contact with persons who had tested positive for COVID-19. More residents testing positive have reported they had no known contact — 3,124, 54.9%; those reporting known contact number 2,565, 45.1%.

Both also reported experiencing various symptoms associated with the disease. More persons have reported experiencing symptoms — 4,232 residents, 77.9%. The number and percentage for those who have been asymptomatic are 1,256 and 22.1%.

The southeast quadrant of the county has had the largest number of cases overall — 3,057, 53.8%. Numbers for the other quadrants are 689, 12.1% in the northwest; 1,086, 19.1% in the northeast, and 856, 15%, in the southwest. Among the Thursday cases, one resident testing positive lives in the southwest quadrant, and one lives in the northeast quadrant.

One resident who tested positive is in the 20-to-29 age bracket, and one is in the 70-to-79 age bracket. The breakdown of cases in age brackets is below:

  • 19-and-under: 963, 16.9%
  • 20-to-29: 974, 17.1%
  • 30-to-39: 824, 14.5%
  • 40-to-49: 732, 12.9%
  • 50-to-59: 820, 14.4%
  • 60-to-69: 677, 11.9%
  • 70-to-79: 396, 7%
  • 80-to-89: 220, 3.9%
  • 90-and-above: 82,1.5%

New York’s Western Region

The region, which includes Cattaraugus County, on Wednesday reported a .9% daily average positivity rate and a 1.3% seven-day average positivity rate. Among the 8.924 people tested Wednesday, 77 were positive. More information from the state is available here
