Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday joined the long and expanding list of world leaders to have received a vaccine against Covid-19.
PM Modi was vaccinated on the first day of India's inoculation drive for senior citizens and those aged 45 and above with comorbidities.
The prime minister took his first dose of Bharat Biotech's Covaxin at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, on Monday morning, giving out a message to those reluctant to get a shot of the indigenously-developed vaccine and urging all those eligible to come forward and get vaccinated.
"I appeal to all those who are eligible to take the vaccine. Together, let us make India COVID-19 free!" Modi said as he hailed the Indian doctors and scientists who have worked in quick time to strengthen the global fight against Covid-19.
Took my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS.
Remarkable how our doctors and scientists have worked in quick time to strengthen the global fight against COVID-19.
