A magnitude 4.1 earthquake near Ishinomaki, Ishinomaki Shi, Miyagi, Japan, was reported only 10 minutes ago by NIED, considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in this part of the world. The earthquake occurred at a moderately shallow depth of 45.3 km beneath the epicenter early afternoon on Wednesday 3 February 2021 at 3:47 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 3.8 earthquake.
