5.1 quake 3 Jan 3:42 pm (GMT +9)

The German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude 5.1 quake in Japan near Okinawa, Okinawa Shi, only 18 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early afternoon on Sunday 3 January 2021 at 3:42 pm local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which listed it as a magnitude 5.0 earthquake.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Katsuren-haebaru (pop. 34,200) located 75 km from the epicenter, Gushikawa (pop. 65,300) 77 km away, Okinawa (pop. 125,500) 82 km away, Ginowan (pop. 91,800) 83 km away, Chatan (pop. 27,800) 84 km away, Nago (pop. 59,600) 84 km away, Tomigusuku (pop. 55,700) 89 km away, Naha (pop. 300,800) 89 km away, and Itoman (pop. 57,200) 89 km away.
