After a string of bad news, including the announced layoff of 1700 employees and cuts to routes including Gander, Goose Bay and Toronto-St. John’s, Air Canada has announced the return of the Boeing 737 MAX to commercial operations.
The aircraft was pulled from service two years ago after two crashes that claimed the lives of over 340 people.
The aircraft was grounded around the world. Air Canada is among the first airlines to bring the aircraft back into service on February 1st.
The vice president of flight operations with Air Canada, Captain Murray Dtrom, says they are confident the nearly two-year regulatory process undertaken by Transport Canada and other regulators ensures the safety of the 737 MAX fleet.
