It’s another hot and humid summer day across Alabama, but there’s also a chance for a few severe storms this afternoon.
NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center has put a large part of the state in a marginal risk for severe weather today. A marginal risk is Level 1 out of 5 and means isolated severe storms will be possible.
The strongest storms could have wind gusts up to 60 mph, small hail, frequent lightning and heavy rain.
The areas exempt from the marginal risk are northeast and southwest Alabama.
The best time for storms will again come during the peak heating of the day this afternoon and into this evening.
Storms are expected to begin to wane after sunset.
Temperatures are again going to be hot, with low to mid-90s expected statewide and high humidity.
Some areas could see the heat index reach as high as 105 degrees, just under heat advisory criteria.

High temperatures today will again be in the low to mid-90s.
